This World Photography Day, LLA Outreach gave much deserved credit to the unsung heroes of our society through photography, making them feel special. LLA Outreach celebrated the people without whose tireless hard work and dedication, the Nilgiris wouldn’t be the same. The students took portraits of the Municipal Workers, Policemen and Policewomen, Fire fighters and the local armed forces of Ooty, Conoor and Kotagiri, ensuring that they not only get the recognition they deserve, but enjoyed a brief moment in the limelight. Light & Life Academy made prints of the same and gifted it to them.
We didn’t just stop there, but went on to share our joy for photography with the children from an orphanage, making the children feel special. Our students encouraged the children to strike poses besides capturing delicate moments filled with emotion as the kids were left to their own devices, as they laughed, ran and played at the Botanical Garden.
The tables turned as well, when the children were taught the basics of photography by our students, and encouraged to explore a side to their creativity that they might have not discovered before. We can safely say that some of these children were absolute naturals and we wouldn’t be surprised if they picked up the camera in later years and become professional photographers themselves!
There were a total of 63 children who joined us on the day from the Annai Sathya children’s home. The chief guests for the even were the collector of the Nilgiris Ms. Innocent Divya and the Superintendent of Police Mr. Murali Rambha
